Judy Harklerode Phillips

Judy Harklerode Phillips, age 83, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, August 30, 2021. She was born to the late Harry and Annie Fagian Harklerode, on June 13, 1938 in McDowell County, North Carolina.

Judy retired from Baxter after 30 years of service. She enjoyed knitting and painting and was a very crafty person. Her grandchildren were her world. Judy will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Wilson.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 20 years, Paul F. Phillips, two children, Sherry Kirkland and David Kirkland; four step children, Debbie Ekker (Matt), David Phillips, Shauna Gappmayer and Shelley Heaton (Stephen); two brothers Harry Clinton Harklerode (Linda) and Roger Harklerode; four grandchildren, Anna Melissa Byrd (Chris), Rebecca Woodby, Sarah Ballew, and David Kirkland, Jr.; nine step grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; Caden Byrd, Brooklyn Woodby, Brittany Woodby, Jared Byrd, Alexis Woodby and David Kirkland III, and Cameron English; two step great- grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service, with the Rev. Alan Sailors officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Private interment will be held at Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Cemetery.
