Juanita Kirby

Juanita Harris Kirby, age 91, of Nebo, North Carolina passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Hospice of Forest City with her loved ones by her side. A native of Yancey County, Juanita was born on April 9, 1930 to the late Goodson and Nellie Harris.

She is preceded in death by her husband of seventy-one years, Talmadge Kirby.

Juanita was a faithful member of Muddy Creek Baptist Church until she was unable to attend. She resided in Nebo for forty-nine years where she was passionate about gardening. Juanita was happy to share her vegetables with her friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her children, Johnny Lee Kirby of Marion, Audrey Kirby Gouge of Marion and Kathy Kirby Smith of Golden Valley and one brother, Richard Harris of Marion. Also surviving Juanita are her grandchildren, Daniel Paul Johnson II, Heather Johnson Pierce, Richard Gouge, Carrie Gouge Griffin, Cheri Kirby Allen and Jacob Schmidt and great-grandchildren, Haven Johnson, Kensley Johnson, Devin Allen, Logan Allen, Austin Robinson, Isaiah Robinson and Andrew Robinson.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Muddy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Daniel McMahan officiating.
