Joyce Wilma Nettles

Joyce Wilma Nettles, born September 29, 1937, in McDowell County, passed away on October 1, 2026, at Mountain Ridge Health and Rehab.

Joyce will be remembered as a woman who loved her family and friends deeply, especially her children and grandchildren. She placed service to others above herself and lived with a generous spirit that touched those around her. She also loved traveling, and that enjoyment added richness to her life and many cherished memories for those who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Chuck Edward Nettles and his wife, Pamela, and Wendell Nettles and his wife, Kendra. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Sue Sigmon and Barbara Roland and her husband, Donald. Her memory will be treasured by her grandchildren, Ashley Braddock, John Ross Nettles, Clay Nettles, Brandon Nettles, Byron Nettles, and Kendall Nettles. In all of these family relationships, Joyce’s love and devotion remained a steady and lasting gift.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maggie Davis Owens; her father, Leonard Lavendar; her son, Ricky Nettles; and her husband Ellis Carroll Nettles.

A visitation will be held on October 7, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory, 2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, North Carolina 28752. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at McDowell Memorial Park, 327 Memorial Park Rd, Marion, North Carolina 28752.

Joyce Wilma Nettles will be remembered with love for her caring heart, her devotion to others, and the special place she held in the lives of her family and friends.
