Joyce Ann Luce Pugh

Joyce Ann Luce Pugh, age 94, of Bakersville, formerly of Old Fort passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026 in Bakersville.

Born on January 18, 1932 in Winnebago County, WI, she was the daughter of the late Seymour and Bessie Williams Luce. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Everett Pugh who passed away in 2014. Also preceding her in death was her daughter; Kris Waterhouse and her brother; Roger Luce. 

Joyce was an active member of the Old Fort Baptist Church. She delivered ‘Meals on Wheels’. She enjoyed traveling and often traveled for six months consecutively. She enjoyed traveling through the mountains of Western North Carolina, all of the mountains in the Appalachian Mountain range and the Red Woods in Western United States. 

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter; Sally Motley, her son-in-law; Arthur Waterhouse whom she loved like a son, her grandchildren; Heather Remus, Sarah Remus, Randy Remus and wife, Jessica, her great grandchildren; Destini Monti, Kameron Remus, Braden Remus, Savannah Remus, Wyatt Remus, and Weston Remus, and her great great grandchildren; Grayson and Kolsen Remus. 

Graveside services and interment will be on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 12:00 pm at the Western North Carolina Veterans Cemetery.
