Joe Y. Moore age 83, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 30, 2026, one day shy of his birthday. Surrounded by the love of his family.

A native of Burnsville, North Carolina (the Newdale Community). He was born on October 31, 1942 to the late Kathleen Young McCollum.

Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army from August, 1960 to May, 1969.

Joe was a devoted husband, a loving dad, a grandfather, and a treasured friend. A gifted artist, who blessed numerous people with his creative gifts, he made or pictures he painted.

He was a man of many talents who seemed to be able to fix just about anything. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Above all he loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Joe was one of the first group hired to work for CE Air Preheater in Marion, NC as a press break operator and continued working there until the plant closed in 1986. He continued working on the construction of an addition to the First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine and was asked to continue as the Building Superintendent for years. He retired from his own Business of Moore Freight Hauling which he owned for 10 years.

Left to cherish his beautiful memory is the true love of his life for 62 wonderful years, his wife, Lavanda King Moore. She was the mother of their two sons, Ronald Joe Moore (wife - Melissa) of California and Hawaii, and Robert Alan Moore (wife - Nina) of Bradenton, Florida. He leaves a legacy of light in his grandchildren, Angel Moore (Austin) of Burnsville, N.C. and Austin Moore of Newland, N.C. Also surviving is his brother-in-law, Booby King of Gastonia, N.C.

Reunited in heaven, he was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Young McCollum. His grandparents who raised him, Clyde Sr, and Ola Mae Young.

Joe was a member of Bolens Creek Baptist Church of Burnsville, N.C.

Joe's life was filled with family, memories, and moments of laughter, that will not soon be forgotten. Though he will be deeply missed the stories shared, jokes remembered, ad love he leaves behind will continue to bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
