Joseph Willard Davis

     Joseph Willard Davis, 95, of Nebo, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022, at his residence surrounded by family.

 

     Willard was born McDowell County, NC on December 20, 1926, to the late Lester Carr Davis and Monty Brown Davis. He was married to his wife of 73 years, Nancy Hipps Davis. Willard served his country proudly in the United States Army and retired from Broyhill Furniture after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church and was an avid farmer. He took great pride in his garden. Willard’s family was his world. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, loving father, and grandfather.

 

     In addition to his parents, Willard was preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil Davis, James Davis, and Ed Davis; and five sisters, Mae Gentry, Ola Miller, Jenell Jubin, Lucille Monn, and Ruby Yow.

 

     He is survived by his wife, Nancy Davis; four children, Margaret Branton, Betty McKinney (Perry), Mary Lowdermilk (Don), and Linda Webb (Harold); eight grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

 

     A funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Reverends Donald Justice, Paul White, Dean Owenby and Harold Webb will officiate. Burial will follow at Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.

 

     Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, McDowell Senior Center 100 Spaulding Rd. Marion NC 28752.
