Jose Luis Mendoza

Jose Luis Mendoza, 57, of Marion, passed away Friday, July 11, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

He was born in Mexico on November 8, 1967 and was lovingly known as “Beavis” to many. A talented builder, Jose worked in residential construction doing framing and trim work. He was known as a hard worker, and when he was not on a job, he was working around his home. He enjoyed shopping, especially at flea markets for tools. Jose liked playing basketball and watching his son play soccer. He always looked for ways to support others by helping when he could.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Aldair Visuet Garcia.

He is survived by his son, Jesus A. Mendoza; parents, Alfonso Mendoza and Maria Corona Escamilla; two godsons, including Edwin Alvarez Morales; and four siblings, Griselda Garcia Corona, Zabulon Mendoza, Imelda Gonzalez Corona, and Eduardo Garcia Corona.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Beam Celebration Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.
