John William Knighton

     John William Knighton, 71, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at his residence.

     Mr. Knighton was born in McDowell County, NC, on August 30, 1951, to the late Charles William Knighton and Hazel Bradford Knighton. Mr. Knighton was a member of Catawba Heights Baptist Church. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Knighton was a career electrician and an avid sports fan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Matthew William Knighton; and two brothers, Jerry Don Knighton  and Drew Miles Knighton.

     He is survived by a son, Jonathan Bruce Knighton and wife Kimberly; a sister, Barbara Rector; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Knighton and Susie Knighton; and three grandchildren, Tori, Kyra, and Kaylee.

     A memorial service will be held at a later date.
