John Dee "Jim" Kirby

John Dee “Jim” Kirby, 79, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022 at his residence.

He was born in McDowell County on March 03, 1942 to the late James William Kirby and lily Mae Davis Kirby.

Jim was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a jokester, and he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Jim would always help anyone in need. He loved his grandchildren very much.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Kirby; and three stepsons, Larry Baughman, Jerry Baughman, and Ricky Baughman.

He is survived by five children, Johnny Baughman (Linda), Kathy Washington, Wanda Lawing (Billy), Doug Kirby (Jasmin), and Dusty Roberts; five siblings, Jean Fleming, Ronnie Gentry (Sherry), Larry Gentry (Mary), Jerry Gentry (Kathy), and Jerol Philbeck; and a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Beam Funeral Service.
