When I first started to jot down a few thoughts about Joe I wrote "Joe Ledford" and I realized I do not know Joe Ledford - I only knew him as "Joe". To his children, you only knew him as Dad. But to me, he was a man who welcomed me into the family with open arms, just like Juanita did from day one. From that day until the day he passed I was treated more like a daughter than a daughter-in-law. My mind goes back to all the times he and Danny would be on the phone chatting about this and that, and in all those times he never once hung up without me hearing him say "I love you son, and tell Elizabeth I love her too".
Even while I am sharing this I am sure everyone's mind is flooding with memories of their own. The karaoke, fishing, working together on cars, and hundreds of other things I know nothing about. I just know I had the best father-in-law I could have ever asked for. So hold memories close and take comfort in them. We all know he was never truly happy since the Lord called Juanita home so let's all try to rejoice in the thoughts of a happy reunion in Heaven for them as well as the the rest of us someday.
I pray God brings peace and love to the family and blesses us all.
