Joanne Roland Sherman

Joanne Roland Sherman, 59, of Burnsville, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital.

A native of McDowell County, she was born February 7, 1964 to the late Troy Lee Roland and Betty Jo Pyatt Roland. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Roy Lee Roland.

Joanne had a passion for cooking and baking. Her family and friends will remember her wonderful dishes that she loved to share. Joanne also had a creative and artistic spirit. Drawing and painting were some of her favorite things to do. All who had the pleasure of viewing her work believe she could have made a living using her talents. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by two children, Travis Sherman and Chelsea Sherman (Lorenzo Kennedy); one brother, Donnie Roland (Amie); niece, Sierra Wylie; and nephew, Austin Roland.

The family will hold a memorial service on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church, 845 South Creek Road in Nebo, with Pastor Donald Justice officiating. They will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m.
