Jerry Lee VanDyke

 

 

Mr. Jerry Lee VanDyke, age 78, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 01, 1942 in Rutherford County, North Carolina to the late Paul Franklin and Ruth Wilkerson VanDyke.

 

Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary White VanDyke; his two children, Chris VanDyke and Jason VanDyke (Tonia); two sisters, Paulette White (T.C) and Patricia Hope and three grandchildren, Avery, Emma and Graycen VanDyke.

 

He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Jerry has also held many positions, such as; former President of Marion Rotary Club, former President of Marion Lake Club and former Vice President of the McDowell High Booster Club. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a true friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

 

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. outside the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church of Marion with Reverend Warren Owens officiating. Guest are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.

I was so sad to hear of Jerrys death. He was a loyal friend and a man who loved deeply especially his family. Though I will not be at his service, I will be holding you all in prayer as you celebrate his life.

Mary, Jason, Chris and the whole family,
Mike and I are so sad about Jerry's passing. He was a wonderful person and everyone knew how much he loved his family. He was also a tireless community leader, and we were so lucky to have him. He will be missed by all.

Mary, Chris, and Jason, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Jerry was a good friend. I so enjoyed working with him at McDowell Insurance, the Jaycees, and the Marion Rotary Club. I loved his sense of humor and his dedication to serving others.
