Jerry Malone Sutton

On the evening of Saturday, November 18, 2023, Jerry Malone Sutton, age 81, of Old Fort, unexpectedly departed this life.

A native of McDowell County, Jerry was born on June 20, 1942, to the late Roby YJ Sutton and Dorothy Parker Sutton.

The oldest of four sons, Jerry was a beloved brother, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He treasured his family. Through his love and devotion, he brought them immeasurable joy and lifetimes of cherished memories. A giving soul, Jerry was quick to lend a helping hand. Faithful and optimistic, he was always ready to encourage. Quiet and thoughtful, he shared plainspoken wisdom with calm and steady poise. Following his retirement as a mechanical insulator, Jerry enjoyed maintaining his home and lawn, tackling projects big and small, and, above all else, spending time with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, for whom he had unlimited time, energy, and affection. 

Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Davis Sutton; his son, David Malone Sutton (Stephanie); two beloved grandchildren, Andrew Malone Sutton and Molly Allen Sutton; and two brothers, Robert Eugene Sutton (Dana) and Carl Hugh Sutton (Ramona). He is preceded in death by a brother, Roby Lee Sutton (Alice).

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory.
