Jerry Joel Edwards, Sr.

Jerry Joel Edwards, Sr., 79, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born in McDowell County on November 1, 1944 to the late Wesley Levi Edwards and Helen Frances Kelly Edwards. Jerry was an avid fan of the UNC Tarheels and the New York Yankees. He enjoyed taking trips to Cherokee to trout fish. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather who especially loved his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. 

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Hilda McGee Edwards; four children, Erin Rupp (Jo), Joel Edwards, Timothy Edwards, and Jacob Edwards (Jennifer); three grandchildren, Sienna Edwards, Madilyn Edwards, and Elijah Edwards; and seven siblings, Wesley Levi Edwards, Jr. (Erica), Charles Edwards (Joan), Ernest Edwards (Tara), Tom Edwards (Barbara), Marie Yap, Kathy Edwards, and Ramona Jumper (William).

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Trent McKeehan officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
