Jerry Dean Carswell

Jerry Dean Carswell, 69, of Nebo, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023 at his home.

A native of McDowell County, he was born January 16, 1954 to the late Lenoir Douglas Carswell and Hazel Belle Lawing Carswell. He is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Madison Carswell; a brother, Leon Carswell; and a sister, Patty Fincher.

He was a self-employed mason and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville. Jerry was an avid golfer as well. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who absolutely adored his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce Willis Carswell; two daughters, Jennifer Carswell Cable (Keith) and Stephanie Carswell; three grandchildren, Spencer Cable, Grayson Carswell, and Bryson Carswell; and one sister, Carolyn Kiser.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at New Manna Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr. and Jerry's grandson, Spencer Cable, officiating. Burial will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
