Jane Martin Mercell

Mathilda “Jane” Martin Mercell, 75, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away at Colonial Manor in Rutherfordton on the evening of Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

Jane was born in Cottle, West Virginia on November 3, 1947 to the late Cecil Martin and Ella Ruth “Patty” Case Martin.

She worked at Autumn Care from which she retired. Jane enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles which she would frame and give to family. She also enjoyed bowling and playing Mrs. Pacman but mostly she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Including her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Mercell; a sister, Linda Cranford and brothers, Russ, Howard, and Wayne Martin.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tina Greene (Bobby) and Patricia Laws (Shaun); one brother, Franklin Martin (Leigh); five grandchildren, Anthony Greene (Rebecca), Bobby Greene, Jr. (Jessica), Sabrina Robinson, Marcus Laws (Korie), Audree Laws and four great grandchildren, Zachary Greene, Irellend, Sawyer and Adam Greene.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Receiving of friends will take place prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 in the chapel. Burial will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park.
