Jamie Browning McKinney
On the morning of Friday, July 09, 2021, Mrs. Jamie Browning McKinney, age 51, made that wonderful cross over into Heaven at Mission Hospital McDowell in Marion. The daughter of the late James and Sandra Dobson Browning, she was born in Morganton, North Carolina on April 22, 1970.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Louise McKinney; and her beloved pets, Bud and Bowser.
Jamie had a special place in her heart for softball, which she enjoyed playing and was a score keeper. An avid North Carolina Tar Heels fan, Jamie was a teacher’s assistant for the special education and severe and profound classes at McDowell High School. She loved the children and their families, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Jamie attended Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Mark McKinney; one brother, Jeff Dobson (Michele); five sisters, Robin Browning, Amy Jimison (David), Wendi Unick, Gini Browning and Allie Watson (Ethan); numerous nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Mike Dobson; her father-in-law, Pastor Allen McKinney (Barbara); brother-in-law, Chuck McKinney (Cindy); and her canine companion, Aspen. Jamie is also survived by hundreds of adopted children through McDowell Recreation Youth Sports.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Pleasant Gardens.
A celebration of Jamie’s life will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Harold Webb, Pastor Tony Shirley and Pastor Matt McDaniels officiating.

Very sorry to hear about Jamie's passing. I had known her since Junior High School and played many softball games with her and against her over the years. She was a really good softball player but an even better person. May God comfort you all and bring you peace during this difficult time.
