James Benjamin Willis, Jr.

James Benjamin Willis Jr. (Jimmy), 70, of Marion, peacefully passed away at Mission Hospital McDowell on Saturday, January 27th, 2024. 

Jimmy was born in McDowell County to the late James Benjamin Willis Sr. and still living Ruth Elizabeth Willis on December 2nd, 1953. 

Jimmy worked as a brick mason most of his life but was mostly known as an athlete. Jimmy loved basketball whether he was playing or coaching. He was always smiling and greeted everyone he met with kindness.

Jimmy was proceeded in death by his father, James Benjamin Willis Sr., his son, James Ryan Willis, his niece Madison Carswell and brother in-law, Jerry Carswell. 

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Ruth, his daughter, Meredith, his three sisters, Brenda, Diane and Joyce, along with 5 grandchildren, Ally, Addison, Blake, and Reece.

Jimmy was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. 

The family will be receiving friend’s at Beam’s on Friday, Feb. 9th from 4pm-6pm.
