James "Trey" Ray Barrier, III

James “Trey” Ray Barrier, III, 47, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at his residence.

He was born in Mecklenburg County on April 5, 1978 to Sylvia Ann Mullis Barrier and the late James Ray Barrier, Jr.

Trey was a man of many interests and passions. He found joy in spending time at the campground, where he created lasting memories with family and friends. He loved having BBQ’s to bring people together, sharing laughter, good food, and music. An enthusiastic fisherman, Trey cherished moments spent by the water. He had a particular fondness for motorcycles, enjoying the thrill of the ride and the freedom it brought him. Additionally, he was an avid collector of Hot Wheels. Above all, Trey's proudest accomplishments were centered around his family. He embraced the role of a family man, cherishing those bonds with deep commitment and love. His special canine companions, Dixie and Bella, held a significant place in his heart along with his late companion, Samson.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Tammy Barrier; two children, Aiden Ray Barrier and Ellen May Barrier; two brothers, Seth Barrier (Susan) and Josh Barrier; paternal grandmother, Lavada Barrier; nieces and nephews, Rebecca Nodine (Barry), Kimberly Frisbee (Kelly), Jesse Barrier (Jessica), and Cole Barrier; great-niece and great-nephew, Caroline Nodine and Colby Elliott (Bella); great-great niece and nephew, Lainey Elliott and Waylon Elliott; uncle, C.W. Barrier (Sherry); and special friends, Shane Dunn, Aaron Becker, Joseph Lunsford, Robbie Robinson, Wyman Hooser, and David Smith.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Brandon Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
