James Michael Johnson

James Michael Johnson, 52, of Morganton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

James was born in Watauga County on September 7, 1973. A very hands-on person, James worked in construction for most of his life. He was most recently employed at Vanguard Furniture. He was personable and was observed to be happy all the time. James was dedicated to his family, especially his two daughters. He was also willing to help his friends and neighbors with any projects he could. A man of many interests, he got great joy by listening to music, fishing, and enjoying fires in the backyard. He will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Townsend, and his step-father, Eugene Ward.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Misty Dawn Breithaupt Johnson; his mother, Mary Johnson Ward; his daughters, Abigail Hope Johnson and Gracie Mae Johnson; his sister, Christina Ward; and an uncle, Billy Johnson.
