James Ervin Frady, a cherished member of the Marion community and a man known for his unwavering dedication and loving nature, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at Mountain Ridge Wellness. Born on July 3, 1938, in McDowell County, James led a life marked by hard work, kindness, and a generous spirit.
James devoted over four decades of his professional life to Marion Fabrics, where his skill and commitment left a lasting impression. Following this, he contributed an additional five years at Universal Furniture, further exemplifying his strong work ethic. Renowned for his remarkable ability to do and fix anything, James was a problem solver by nature, always ready to lend a helping hand.
He was a respected member of the East Marion Methodist Church, where he found community and spiritual strength. As a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, James was known for the deep love he held for his family, embracing each relationship with warmth and care.
James is survived by his sons, Gary Frady and Phillip Frady, who was able to spend much time with him over the past two years. His grandchildren, Robert John Webb, Victoria Jane Frady, Anthony Frady and his wife Holly, Brian Frady, and his great-grandchildren Megan Frady, Devan Frady, Gracie Frady and Elaina Webb continue to honor his memory in their lives. He was also survived by his former spouse Norma Gilliam Bruner.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Judy Hollifield Frady; his daughter, Rebecca Frady Webb; his brothers and sisters, including Sam Frady, Nellie, Florence, Minnie, and Dora.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate James's life and legacy at the East Marion United Methodist Church located at 230 Baldwin Avenue, Marion, NC 28752. A visitation will be held on April 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed immediately by a memorial service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. These gatherings will provide an opportunity to reflect on the meaningful contributions James made to his community and to countless lives.
James Ervin Frady’s life was a testament to diligence, love, and dedication. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
