James Eugene Dunn

James E. Dunn, 90 of Newland, NC, died at home on June 27th.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1935 to James R. and Lillian Dunn. James graduated from Kissimmee High School and attended the University of Florida. After serving in the U.S. Army, he began a long career in law enforcement with the Florida East Coast Railroad followed by the Florida Highway Patrol and Orange County Sheriff's Department. He served in the Florida National Guard and was a champion pistol shooter earning both the Florida Governor's 20 and National Chief's 50 awards.

James was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Frances and son Jeff. He is survived by his sons Kevin and Todd, five grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
