James Russell Barnes

February 3, 1959 — February 3, 2021

James (Jim) Russell Barnes, age 62, of Marion, N.C. closed his eyes to this world and opened them in the kingdom of Heaven on February 3, 2021. Jim was born in Saratoga County, N.Y. on February 3rd 1959 to the Late Marsha Moore Moeller.

Jim left us way too soon, but accomplished much in the brief time he was here. Having been in sales for most of his life, Jim was the recent vice-president and co-owner of Universal Motors of Granite Falls, N.C. until his health declined.

Selling automobiles was one of his passions along with his love of reading, going to the movies, and bowling with his son Alex. Jim attended Solid Rock Church of Granite Falls and believed that this life is a mere blink of an eye and only a whisper to an afterlife of eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jim believed that all of us are only one breath away from eternity.

Jim was pre-deceased by his mother and his sister Linda Cheetham. Surviving Jim are his brothers Gale Penza (Cindy) of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Jeff Barnes (Donna) of Old Fort, N.C. and Cliff Barnes (Carolina) of Hickory, N.C.; daughters Jamie Langley (David) of Bryans Road, M.D. Chelsea Reeser (Ethan) of Columbia, S.C., sons Duece Barnes and Alex Barnes of Marion, N.C. Also surviving are his aunt, Nancy Searcy of Nashville, T.N.; eleven grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews along with two special friends Shadow and Sam.

If you knew Jim, it should come as no surprise that there will be no services held. He asks that all would remember him as they last saw him and to make it your goal to join him in eternity.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to your local Adoption Center for displaced animals and also to care for those who can’t take care of themselves. Good luck and may God bless each and every one of you, Jim.
