Jackie Eugene Edwards Sr passed away on Tuesday August 4, 2026, peacefully at his home in Spruce Pine with his loving wife of twenty-eight years Shelia Edwards by his side.
Born August 18, 1943 in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late William Edgar and Eva Myrtle Edwards. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers; Leroy, Bob, Bill, and Howard, along with sisters; Elsie, Helen and Shirley.
Jackie was a Maintenance man by trade; but, he loved Golf, Karaoke, Computer games, the “occasional” honey bun as well as being an Elvis enthusiast; but, most of all he loved his family and a good family dinner. He worked many years at Sloop Memorial Hospital in maintenance before moving to Avery Hardware where he enjoyed assisting customers with all things project or home improvement, he then found his passion when he opened his small business Edwards Monitor and Maintenance Service. He was a faithful member and servant of Mt. Zion Global Methodist Church of Spruce Pine.
Left to cherish his memory along with his wife; Shelia Edwards, is his brother; Wade Edwards (Jackie), daughters; Terry Soble (Rich) and Stephanie Wiseman (Eric), sons; Jackie Edwards Jr. and Garrett, grandchildren;, Marti Hughes (Kyle), Ashley Edmonds (Darren), Samantha Gilley (Billy), Jacque Wiseman (Blake), Dale, Ashley, Josh, Katherine, Austin and Camden. Great Grandchildren Serenity, Colt, Anthony, Kimber, Spencer, Brayden, Felix, Bryson, Tanner, Asher, Hazel and Riley and many special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Jackie Edwards will be on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 4:00 pm at Mt. Zion Global Methodist Church with Rev. Jock Ollis officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Church. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Global Methodist Church Cemetery.
