Ina Kathleen Buchanan Mashburn

Ina Kathleen Buchanan Mashburn, 76, of Marion, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 at Willow Ridge in Rutherfordton. 

She was born in Swain County on March 12, 1947 to the late John Buchanan and Myrtle Rose Buchanan. 

Ina was a member of Valley Chapel Baptist Church in Old Fort. She was always a hard-working woman who worked for many years at Autumn Care and also at West McDowell Junior High School in the cafeteria. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and being in the outdoors. It did her heart good to be on the lake or just outside walking in God’s creation. Ina also loved to read.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Mashburn; and her brother, Johnny Buchanan.

She is survived by her three sons, Johnny Martin (Ann), Michael Mashburn (Kala), and David Mashburn (Michelle); and nine grandchildren, Charles, Gabriel, Abigail, Kassie, Kayden, Allan, Jessica, Johnny Jr., and Lynn.

A funeral service will be held at Valley Chapel Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date in the church cemetery.
