Homer C. Townsend, V, age 89, of Nebo, passed away at home on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
He was born in East Orange, New Jersey on May 26, 1936 to the late Homer C. Townsend, IV and Dorothy Reeves Townsend.
Homer lived in Liberty Corner, New Jersey; Chester Depot, Vermont; and Mendham and Chester, New Jersey before retiring to North Carolina. He most enjoyed the Dysartsville Community the past eleven years.
He proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1956 to 1964 as well as the Coast Guard Auxiliary. While living in New Jersey and Vermont, he served in law enforcement. He later began a career as a master electrician with much advanced training. Homer also had commercial and residential inspector licenses. He retired from Morristown Memorial Hospital.
A man of many interests, he enjoyed bass fishing from his boat and target range shooting. Homer also cherished time spent on his tractor, long walks with his German Shepards, and riding in his truck. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jane Townsend; one daughter, Kerry Avery and husband Richard; grandchildren, Annika Avery and Chase Avery; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held privately.
