Herbert "Hub" Lawing

On the evening of Friday, November 9, 2018, Herbert “Hub” Lawing, age 89, passed away at his residence with his family by his side. A native of McDowell County, Hub was born on April 14, 1929 to the late Fred and Carrie Morgan Lawing.

Hub attended Bethel Baptist Church and was a proud United States Army veteran, where he served as a sergeant in the Korean Conflict. He was a former heavy equipment operator and was known for the love he had for his family.

Hub is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Vonell B. Lawing, two sons, Randy H. Lawing (Alesia) and Troy Scott Lawing; and one sister, Louise Franklin. Also surviving Hub is one grandson, Zackary H. Lawing.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Upton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., one hour prior the service at the church. Interment will take place at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
