Helene Caroline Fox Curtin

Helene Caroline Fox Curtin, 98, of Nebo, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Carolina Caring Hospice House in Newton, NC, surrounded by her loving family.

Helene was born in Lakewood, Ohio on September 2, 1925 to her late parents, Frank S. Fox and Anna Obelz Fox. She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles Robert Curtin; infant son, Michael Patrick Curtin; brothers, Frank, Paul and Rudy Fox; and a grandson, Mark Grella.

Helene loved reading, dancing, crossword puzzles, Wheel of Fortune, texting with family, and playing solitaire on her iPad. She could play a mean hand of pinochle and never met a treadmill she couldn't conquer. She drew comfort and strength from her family and took tremendous pleasure in their accomplishments. Helene's smile was pure love and her kindness knew on bounds.

Those left to cherish Helene's memory are her seven children, Diane Grella (Ray) of Vermillion, OH, Chuck Curtin (Brenda) of Pinkerington, OH, Kathy Curtin Lohrei (Warren McCue) of Oalkand, AR, Tim Curtin (Tracey) of Nebo, NC, Irene Curtin of Naperville, IL, James Curtin of Geneva, IL, and Patty Nigohosian (Brian) of Darien, IL. Helene's legacy also lives on through her eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Much appreciation is extended to Carolina Caring Hospice staff, Mission Hospital ER staff, McDowell County Rescue Squad, and GVP Rapid Response Team for their support, compassion, and care of Helene during her final days.

Beam Funeral Service & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Services to celebrate Helene's life will be held in Wheaton, IL.
