Harvey Cleveland Smith

Harvey Cleveland Smith, 77, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

He was born in Newport News, Virginia on December 29, 1945 to the late Theodore Roosevelt Smith and Dorothy Davis Smith. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Smith.

Harvey worked for many years at Air Preheater before becoming self-employed as a used car salesman and landlord. He owned and operated West Henderson Used Cars where he later retired. He was a lifetime member of the Marion Moose Lodge and enjoyed playing cards and shooting dice. Harvey loved helping people, and he did so every chance he got. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a self-made legend.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Corn Smith; two sons, Brian Smith and Kelly Smith (Jessie); one grandchild, Brooks Smith; and two nephews, Dean Blanton (Sharon) and Michael Blanton (Sharon).

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
