Harry B. Pinkerton, the undeniable heart and soul of the Pinkerton family, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at 3:25 p.m. at the age of 88. He leaves behind a legacy defined by unwavering kindness, endless patience, and a lifetime of unforgettable adventures.
Born on April 28, 1938, Harry lived life with an open heart and a joyful spirit. He served his country with honor as a battle courier in the U.S. Army, later dedicating years of hard work as a corrections officer until his retirement. Harry also turned his love for the open road into a profession, making a living delivering RVs across the country.
To know Harry was to know a man who was always quick with a joke and entirely incapable of being in a bad mood. He found immense joy in the simpler things in life, particularly his cherished collections of model trains and mallard ducks. But above all else, Harry loved his family. He was a gentle, kind soul who never once faltered when those he loved needed him most.
Harry was a master teacher of life’s essential skills. His daughter Susan’s fondest childhood memory reaches back to when she was just three years old, sitting high up on the roof while her father made repairs. She vividly recalls her mother getting incredibly upset seeing her up so high, but Harry calmly reassured her that everything was perfectly fine because Susan was with him. From that early age, he was always teaching Susan invaluable hands-on life skills, from fixing walls to carpentry. He also patiently taught Susan, his grandson David, and countless extended family members how to confidently take the wheel and drive.
One of Harry’s absolute fondest memories was a spectacular trip to Europe to visit Italy and Germany with his grandson, David. Showing his true grit, Harry had undergone major heart surgery to receive an implantable defibrillator just one week prior to the trip. Despite this, he shocked everyone in Munich by being the very first person to hike straight up a steep mountain to tour a historic castle. He took zero breaks, entirely out-pacing the younger crowd and rightfully earning the title of "legendary" from David’s peers—a badge of honor he wore with a smile.
Harry is now joyfully reunited with his beloved wife, Roverna (Roe) Hudgins Pinkerton (born July 11, 1937), who preceded him in death on August 13, 2023. His steady guidance, warmth, and laughter will be deeply missed but forever carried forward by his daughter Susan and his grandson David.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 3, 2026 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Hicks Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
