Harry Lee Holland, born on February 16, 1947, in McDowell County, passed away on October 8, 2025, at UNC Health Blue Ridge Hospital in Morganton. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Harry was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church, where he shared his immense talent for music. He played the piano and organ for over forty years, contributing his musical gifts to both Grace Baptist Church and Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. His passion for music was a fundamental part of who he was, and it brought joy to those around him.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Harry had a variety of interests that enriched his life. He was an avid fisherman, and his love for the outdoors often complemented his woodworking skills, where he took pride in building and crafting various items. Furthermore, he enjoyed photography, capturing the beauty of the world and the moments spent with his loved ones.
Harry proudly served in the United States Army, demonstrating a commitment to his country that he carried with honor throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Laura Poteat Holland; daughter Kimberly Buchholz (Eric); sister Ruby E. Holland; grandsons Austin Love, Brandon Love, Andrew Buchholz (Casey); and great-grandchildren McKenna Love, Charles Browne, and Zyanne Buchholz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Reid Holland and Josie Pyatt Holland; brother Alvin Holland; sister Lorrine Freeman; and great-grandson Zachary Love.
A graveside service to honor Harry will take place on October 11, 2025, at Glenwood Cemetery in Marion, North Carolina. The service will begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Michael Toney officiating.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
