Gertrude Sailer Mentink

Gertrude Sailer Mentink, 88, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, April 02, 2022 at Rose Hill Retirement Community.

A native of Germany, Gertrude was born on May 24, 1933 to the late Rudolph and Wilhelmina Sailer.

Gertrude, who was known as a hard worker, was formerly employed at Marion Manufacturing. She was a wonderful seamstress who also enjoyed crocheting. She was very dedicated to her husband, Dale, and she loved working outside with him. Gertrude was a great cook who often cooked meals according to her German heritage.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dale Donald Mentink; and a grandson, Robbie Lee Hess.

She is survived by her four children, Rosemarie Gragg (Tony), Barbara Vance (Tommy), Bill Mentink (Jacque), and Debra Bowman (Rick); six grandchildren, Cassandra Helfer, Elijah Gragg, Chelsi Poteat, Jessica Compton, Kiersten Salladin, and Nathaniel Vance; and seven great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 07, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery on Fortune Road.
