Gerald Douglas Styles

Gerald D. Styles, aka “Peg-leg,” passed away on September 12, 2024, in Asheville, North Carolina. Born on May 30, 1957, a native to Yancey County.

Gerald proudly served in the Air Force and lived a full life. He loved his family & friends, enjoyed racing, driving, working on hot rods, riding motorcycles and doing burn-outs. He asks his friends to do one final burn-out for him. 

He is survived by his daughters, Kristy Mclaughlin (Johnnie), Misty Styles-Clark (Ethan); grandchildren, Lauren, Dakota, Sierra, Madison, EJ and Emma; great-grandchildren, Tony and Colton; brother, Alan Styles (Debbie); best friends, Spencer, Joel, and Frankie; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins along with a niece and a nephew. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Billie Jean and Phillip Styles and his fiancé, Martha Shumate. 

Gerald's final wishes were to be cremated without a formal service. His ashes will be lovingly spread by his family, honoring his request for privacy in his final farewell.
