Georgia Davis Presnell

Georgia Davis Presnell, age 100, of Marion, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

A native of Avery County, she was born April 16, 1926 to the late Ed Davis and Laura McMahan Davis.

Georgia retired from a career in manufacturing. She had a great love for flowers of all kinds and working in her garden. She loved watching and feeding the birds. Georgia spent countless hours watching Gunsmoke and wrestling which she truly enjoyed. Her family was most important in her life, and she sacrificed a lot over the years to see that they were cared for. She especially adored her grandchildren and her son Curtis who she has lovingly cared for his whole life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilmore Presnell; four children, James Presnell, Sherman Presnell, Tammy Freeman, and Cleo Woody; and all of her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by six children, Sandra Gurley, Roberta Randolph, Janice Woody (Glenn), Dianna Chrisawn, Curtis Presnell, and Patricia McKinney, and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with her great-grandson, Jordan Mitchell, officiating.
