George Eugene Schultz

November 4, 1942 — December 18, 2024

Marion

George Eugene Schultz, 82, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center.

He was born in Buncombe County on November 4, 1942 to the late James Rosencrantz Schultz and Ruby Rippy Schultz.

George was formerly employed by the City of Asheville with the sanitation department. He later became a long-haul truck driver. Once George came to know and love the Lord, the changes in his life were clear. He often read his Bible, even in the hospital. He attended Ridgeway Free Will Baptist Church, and he enjoyed worshipping there. George spent his spare time as a junker. He was affectionately known by many as “Junk Man George.” His family has many great memories of spending time with him looking for junk. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Schultz; and all his siblings, C.B. Schultz, Boyd Schultz, Jerry Schultz, Earl Schultz, and Ozelle Ray.

Left to cherish his memory are three children, Joy Schultz, Michael Schultz, and Crystal Schultz (Roy Massey); several grandchildren including Chloe, Oliver, and Justin; and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Patricia McAbee.

The family will hold a memorial service on Monday, January 6, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Free Will Baptist Church.
