George Gilbert Lipe

     George Gilbert Lipe, 79, of Marion, NC, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville.

     George was born in Marion, North Carolina on September 17, 1942, to the late Gilbert and Frances Thomason Lipe. He was married to his wife of thirty three years, Juliette Wanda Ricketts Lipe and was a member of Catawba Heights Baptist Church in Marion. He also volunteered with the McDowell County Rescue Squad. George loved to play golf and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Carolina Panthers. He loved to tell jokes and was known to make others smile. He will be greatly missed.

     In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a son, Vaughn Lipe; and a brother, John Lipe.

     Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Julie Lipe of Marion; a son, Duane Lipe of Old Fort; a step daughter, Jill Locke (James) of Marion; a step son, Freddy Ricketts (Shanon) of Old Fort; a sister, Myrna of Mississippi; and three grandchildren.

     A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Catawba Heights Church in Marion. Rev. James Walker will officiate.
