She was born on March 25, 1922 to the late Will and Cora Melton Moore in McDowell County.

Geneva was the last charter member of Old Fort Free Will Baptist Church. For many years, she sang with her sisters in churches throughout the county. She leaves behind an incredible legacy that will last for years to come.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jobie Johnson, Jr.; two children, Carl Douglas Johnson and Brenda Williams (John David Williams); seven siblings, JC Moore, Paul Moore, Ott Moore, Janie Hughes, Irene Chrisawn, Ada Frady, and Naomi Crisp; and a great grandson, John Mark Williams.

She leaves behind three sons, Bobby Jack Johnson (Carolyn Gay Johnson), Richard K. Johnson (Kathryn Johnson), and Roger A. Johnson (Brenda Johnson); eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; one brother, Lester Moore (Bernice Moore); a special friend, Carolyn Slagle; and her roommate and friend, Thelma Trent.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 02, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Old Fort Free Will Baptist Church with Revs. Lattie Slagle, Vincent White, and Stanley Willet officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Green Knob Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mountain Ridge for the outstanding care provided to Geneva the last four years.

Dear Jack, Roger and Richard, I had you in my thoughts all day. I wish I could have been there today but I have been exposed to covid and have to stay in a few days. As you know, I spent so much time at Aunt Geneva and Uncle Jobie's and have so many good memories of all of you. I kknow how you all are feeling at this time and nothing I can say or do will help but the one thing I am sure of is we will see her again. I love all of you and wish I could have been there today. Love you all. Jeanette
