Fred Raborn Moody

Fred Raborn Moody, a respected figure in his community, passed away at his residence on November 14, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on February 9, 1940, in McDowell County to his parents Fred Garland Moody and Nancy Kaylor Moody who preceeded him in death. Fred dedicated over 20 years of his professional life as the Branch Manager of Asheville Savings Bank, where he was known for his commitment to excellence and service.

Fred was a loving husband to Kathy Cornett Moody, with whom he shared countless cherished memories. He was also a devoted father to his three children: Craig Moody (Meleia), Luke Robinson (Amber), and Hayley Davis (Mitch). His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren: Stacy Dubesko, Brittany Lawrence (Ian), Tyler Moody (Caitlin), Aubrey Davis, Brooklyn Davis, Colson Davis, and Lincoln Robinson, along with seven great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. Fred's canine companion, Tucker, stood by him through many seasons of life.

A passionate golfer and avid supporter of the UNC Tarheels, Fred found joy in his hobbies, which allowed him to connect with both friends and family. His spirit of enthusiasm and camaraderie will undoubtedly be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents Fred is preceded in death by his sisters, Florence Gaddy and Mildred White, and Theo "Bug" Allison. 

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Providence Church in Marion, NC, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM with Reverend Jason Burch officiating. The church is located at 83 Providence Church Rd, Marion, NC 28752. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Fred leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and dedication that will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and community. He will be remembered for his unwavering support and his generous spirit.
