It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Edward Love, Sr., who left this world on June 19, 2025, at the Charles George VA Medical Center. Born on February 25, 1945, Frank was not only a devoted family man but also a proud U.S. Marine veteran whose life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his love of his country.

Frank will be remembered for his enduring love for his family and friends. He took immense joy in spending time with his daughters True Hollifield and her husband Jeff, and Crystal Arrowood and her husband Matt, as well as his son Edward Love, II. His sister, True Anderson, and former spouse Phyllis Nelon also held a special place in his heart. Frank cherished the moments he shared with his grandchildren: Seth Hollifield, Brandon Love, Austin Love, Bryson Love and his wife Kelsey, Madalyn Jones, and Levi Arrowood and Hunter Arrowood. Additionally, he embraced the role of great-grandfather, finding joy in the lives of Charlie Brown, McKenna Love, Henry Tate Love, and a great-grandchild on the way. His beloved dog Jasper. Also surviving are many friends and staff members of the NC State Veterans home where he spent the last five years of his life.

A former Asheville City firefighter, and subcontractor for the telephone company, Frank was immensely proud of his accomplishments and dedicated his life to serving others. He was known for his passion for fishing, hunting, gardening, and his interests in science and history, with a particular fascination for the Civil War. An artist at heart, Frank enjoyed carving walking sticks, showcasing his creativity and attention to detail.

Frank’s warmth and kindness resonated through his relationships, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy rooted in love and service.

He was predeceased by his father, Edward Eckles Love, and mother, Thelma Nelon Love, as well as his great-grandson Zachary Love.

As we remember Frank Edward Love, Sr., we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by devotion to family, love for the outdoors, and a spirit of camaraderie among friends. He will forever hold a cherished place in the hearts of those he touched, including his beloved dog Jasper, who was a companion throughout his journey.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the NC State Veterans Home at 62 Lake Eden Rd. Black Mountain NC 28711.
