Finley Chrisawn

Finley Chrisawn, 95, of Marion, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord and his wife at his home with his loving family surrounding him on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

He was born in Yancey County on July 3, 1927 to the late John Will Chrisawn and Della Smith Chrisawn. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jewell Kirby Chrisawn who passed away 22 days earlier; and all his siblings.

Finley was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and he worked at Drexel Heritage for 45 years. He enjoyed visiting junk stores and trade lots and being in the sunshine. Finley had a unique outlook and disposition concerning life and loved his family wholeheartedly. He was a member of Yancey Street Baptist Church where he loved his church family and his pastor.

He is survived by his three children, Mike Chrisawn (Robin), Lynn Presnell, and Kay Higgins (Juan); twelve grandchildren, Chrystal, Sarah, Shane, Chad, Derek, Ashley, Melissa, Kris, April, Nathan, Brandon, and Jessi; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a special niece, Tammy Callahan.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Yancey Street Baptist Church with Pastor Dean Owenby and Mr. Mike Price officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
