Evie Sue Moody

Evie Sue Moody, age 79, of Plumtree passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026 at The Green’s of Spruce Pine. 

Born on May 5, 1946 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Edna Carpenter Stamey. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister; Elizabeth McCall, her brothers; Caroll, Ray, Wade, Loy, and Leonard Stamey and her grandson; Jonathan Cropper. 

Evie Sue loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking for them. She also took care of numerous family members when they were in need of help. She also enjoyed working in her flowers, telling tales and laughing. She read her Bible on a daily basis. Every year as the Christmas season approached, she looked forward to making wreaths and going to the Christmas tree lot. Most importantly, she was looking forward to going to heaven and seeing her mother. 

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of sixty-four years; Richard Moody, her daughter; Thresia Riddle and husband, Raymond, her son; Rick Moody and wife, Sharon, her brother; Ken Stamey, five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00 am at Chestnut Dale Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Willis officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Chestnut Dale Baptist Church.
