Emily Bounds

Emily Edwards Bounds, age 81, formerly of the Pleasant Gardens Community, Marion, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Open Arms Retirement Center in Raeford, North Carolina.  The daughter of the late Arthur and Eva Rice Edwards, she was born in Burke County, North Carolina on June 07, 1939.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Bounds who passed away on November 13, 2017; and one son, Jameel Taru Bounds, who passed away on March 19, 2020. 

Emily attended Drexel High. She was an alumnus of Wake Forest University and Mars Hill College. She served her Lord in Red Springs, North Carolina as a music minister. Mrs. Bounds taught in the McDowell County School System and at Tabernacle Christian School.  She fondly directed and played in Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church's' hand bell choir, where she was a member for over 60 years.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her daughter, Jenai Bounds of Saluda, North Carolina; and four grandchildren, Aliza Hyde-Bounds, Ivy Hyde-Bounds, Josiah Hyde-Bounds and Tukki Bounds. 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Howard.
