Elsie Mae Stuart

Elsie Mae Wilson Stuart, age 100, of Marion, passed away Friday, June 12, 2026 while at the residence of her son in Mooresville, North Carolina.

A native of Yancey County, she was born May 1, 1926 to the late Talmadge Wilson and Maggie McMahan Wilson.

Elsie graduated from Micaville High School. Following graduation, she worked for Southern Bell as a telephone operator. She enjoyed dancing and was a member of two dance clubs. She was a faithful,000 longtime member of Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be missed by all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Wilson, W.B. Bagwell, and Adrian Stuart; two sons, Bill Bagwell and Norman Bagwell; and her brother, James Wilson.

Those left to cherish her memory are two children, Cynthia James and husband Mickey and Barry Bagwell; two daughters-in-law, Gail Bagwell and Norma Bagwell; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Ethan Hester will begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of ones choice.
