Elizabeth "Libby" Newton Ramsey

Elizabeth “Libby” Newton Ramsey, 72, of Nebo, went to be with her Lord on Friday, December 12, 2025 at UNC Health Blue Ridge.

She was born in McDowell County on June 3, 1953 to the late Alvin Charles Newton and Mary Lou Finley Newton.

A loving wife, mother, and Nena, she loved her family and especially adored her grandchildren who were her world. Libby was a devoted homemaker and dedicated her life to tending to her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Kenneth Newton, Betty Caudle, and Steve Newton.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Sammy Ramsey; four children, Michael Ramsey (Holly), Amanda Henline (Johnny), Jennifer Pittman (Travis), and Elizabeth Ramsey (Jason Padgett); nine grandchildren, Samantha Shepherd (Dalton), Allie Curtis (John), Savannah Henline (Josh Maddux), Claire Ramsey, Brayden Padgett, Zack Ramsey, Braxxon Pittman, Hagen Pittman, and Lilah Pittman; and six siblings, Margie Barnette, Lois Shipman, Dennis Newton, Larry Newton, Doc Newton, and Ricky Newton.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry McClain officiating. Burial will be at Muddy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
