She was always ready to go anywhere whether it was a trip or to eat out.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Vess; two sisters, Faye Davis and Ruth Howell; and a brother, Roy Queen.

Survivors include her two children, Peggy Wilson (Homer) and Hugh “Bobby” Vess (Rebecca); five grandchildren, Kim Hefner, Ben Vess, Sherry Tuttle, Derek Hodges, and Heather Hodges; ten great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Duncan and Betty Carpenter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Mrs. Vess’ life will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Yancey Street Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Revs. Dean Owenby and Wayne Tuttle will officiate. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of sweet Edna. She was a dear friend of the Allison family when I was growing up. We lived in the same neighborhood. She also babysat my children when my mother in law was sick. She was like family to us. God gained an angel. Prayers to all the family.

Bobby, Peggy, Ben, Kim, Sherry, I am grieving with you. I always loved Edna and will miss her. I would love to attend her services but will not be able to do so, though I will be there in spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
