Edna Marie Elliott, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away peacefully at her residence on October 25, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on December 13, 1939, as Edna Marie Ledbetter.
Edna was a co-owner and operator of the Sam's Grocery Store, where she served the local community with kindness and professionalism for many years. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her passion for living and working on the farm, where she found solace in nurturing the land. Gardening was one of her great loves; she took joy in tending to her flowers and preserving the bounty of the harvest through canning and food preservation, sharing these delights with family and friends.
She was known as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, deeply cherished by her family. Edna is survived by her son Tracy Elliott (Jeanette), her sisters Ethel Reynolds, Diane Dellinger, and Jean Hill, as well as her granddaughter Bailey Elliott and grandson Tyler Elliott.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Elliott, with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her father, Noland Ledbetter, and her mother, Inez Searcy Ledbetter; two sisters Iverea Dalton and Kay Smith; two brothers Ernest Ledbetter and Hugh Ledbetter.
A visitation to honor Edna's life will be held on November 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory in Marion, NC. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be conducted at Montford Cove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Steve Miller officiating.
Edna Marie Elliott will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Her warmth, creativity, and devotion to her family and community will remain a lasting legacy.
