Earlene Hays Richardson, age 91, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at 11:00 p.m. on the night of Monday, April 19, 2021 at Autumn Care of Marion.  Born in Abilene, Texas on March 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Ladosky “Dot” Turner Hays.

Earlene lived a vibrant, active life and was very involved in her community, wherever she lived.  She traveled and lived in many different places throughout her life when Robert was still living.

After his passing, she settled near her daughter in Old Fort, NC.  She enjoyed being a part of the McDowell County community and was involved in the Red Hat Society, the Marion Christian Women’s Association, she loved going to the Old Fort Senior Center and faithfully attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Old Fort.  She enjoyed traveling and dining out with her many friends and living in her mountains she loved so dearly.

Earlene made friends and shared her lively personality with everyone, that was blessed to know her. She enjoyed baking, birdwatching, especially woodpeckers and just loved nature.  Earlene was a wonderful Grandmother, and she was very proud of all her great-grandchildren as well and loved showing off their photos.  She left a wonderful legacy behind for them.  She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Richardson; her brother, Ken Hays; and her daughter, Lynn Hays Lindsey.

Earlene is survived by her son, Tim Richardson, her Grandson, Brian Richardson, her Granddaughter, Lynn Floyd; her Great-Grandchildren, Taylor (Floyd) Lucas, Evan Floyd, Andrew Richardson, and Madison Richardson.
