Dorothy Virginia Hopson

     Dorothy Virginia Hammond Hopson, 76, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

     Dorothy was born in Mitchell County, NC, on January 21, 1950, to the late Ernest Hammond and Bessie Craig Hammond. She was married to the late Dennis Hopson. She worked at Baxter Healthcare, where she retired after many years of dedicated service. Dorothy loved everyone and never knew a stranger. She will always be remembered for her big heart and great sense of humor. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

     In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Purcell; and two brothers, David Hammond and Johnny Hammond.

     Those left to cherish her memory include two children, Dennis Hopson (Samantha) and Jamie Bryant (Buddy); a sister, Doris (Allen); a brother, Kenneth Hammond; four grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and her best friend, Deborah Putnam.

     The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2026, at Beam Funeral Service.
