Dorothy Mae Autrey

     Dorothy Mae McPeters Autrey, 89, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at her residence.

     Dorothy was born in Burnsville, NC on January 4, 1934 to the late Jesse and Geneva McPeters. She was married to her husband of 69 years, Reverend Randolph Autrey, who preceded her in death in 2022. Dorothy was a member of South Toe Baptist Church and attended Bethel Free Will Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a kind hearted and caring mother figure to many. Most of all, Dorothy loved the Lord with all her heart. She will be greatly missed.

     In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Randolph Autrey; a grandson, Nicholas Higgins; and many brothers and sisters.

     Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Russell Autrey and Randall Autrey; a sister, Carolyn Boles; a brother, Gerald McPeters and wife Gayla; nine grandchildren, Christina, Tristan, Dorothy, Allen, Jessica, Timothy, Josh, Randy Lee, and Ronnie; many great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Autrey will officiate and Rev. Larry Anderson will assist. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the Church.
