Doris Toney Poteat

Doris Toney Poteat, 94, of Marion, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Autumn Care of Marion.

Doris was born July 26, 1929 to the late William and Kate Crawley Toney. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Ethel C. Toney; her husband, Glenn Poteat after 61 years of marriage; two sisters, Arminta Toney Hall and Margie Toney Gillenwater; and three brothers, Loy Toney, Willard Toney, and Howard Toney. Doris was the last surviving child of five siblings. She is survived by one niece and several nephews as well as several friends and neighbors including a special friend, Kim Higgins.

Doris retired from Marion Manufacturing Company after 46 years of service. Doris attended East Marion United Methodist Church. She loved her church family. 

A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Philip Tate officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park beside Glenn.
